Whitmore Wine Company

One of the things I like best about the up and coming California winemakers is their ability to combine cheeky branding and delicious flavor. Case in point, Sam Whitmore of Whitmore Wine, who is profiled by the Stockton Record. His boutique wine label uses lesser-known grape varietals from Lodi (home of some of my favorite zins) and the surrounding areas. His black-and-white labels feature names like the Social Commentary Syrah and the Leftover Meatloaf Mourvedre. The wines are produced in a certified green facility and Whitmore strives to use growers that utilize sustainable and organic growing practices. Also a portion of the profits go support non-profit groups. The wines are screwcaps and sell for $10-$15. Are they good? I'll let you know, I ordered bottles of the Get Lucky Viognier and the Fuhgetaboutit Barbera and will report back.
